Simpsons Show Summary
The Simpsons which has been entertaining us for more than two decades now, started its journey on television as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show in April 1987. The family remained on the show for three seasons before they got their own half hour time slot on FOX TV on which the series premiered on 17th December 1989. The series has the distinction of being the longest running animated show on American Television. The series was created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcast Company and is co-produced by Matt Groening, Al Jean, James L. Brooks and Sam Simon. The series has aired a total of 428 episodes across 20 seasons.

The series revolves around the working class American family of the Simpsons which includes Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Homer is a dull-witted, lazy, beer-loving and unhealthy but loving man who is married to Marge who is a hardworking and dutiful housewife. Although she is a little naïve sometimes, she successfully manages to keep the family together. Their eldest child Bart apart from being a nice kid is a great prankster who keeps on getting into trouble. Next is eight year old Lisa who is a brilliant but neglected child and sometimes feels that she has been left out both at home as well as school due to her intelligence. The family is rounded up by the infant Maggie who speaks very little but has become quite popular because of her red pacifier.
The Simpsons presents the picture of a nuclear family with an unintelligent father who causes many problems, a loving and caring mother who is ready to do everything for the betterment of her family, a mischievous but clever son, an extraordinarily intelligent girl and a loveable and cute baby. Together the family gives rise to situations that are bound to leave you rolling on the floor with laughter. They come across many crazy feats not only in their hometown but anywhere they go. This unmatched comedy series boasts of many colorful characters as well as situations which provide complete entertainment to the audiences.

The Simpsons has been nominated for a minimum of 105 different awards including a Golden Globe and seventeen Emmy Awards. It has also won 98 Awards including thirteen Emmy Awards. The series boasts of a bunch of music albums and innumerable endorsements and merchandise besides having been turned into various video games and even a full length movie named The Simpsons Movie. With every new season, the series has been increasing its popularity with newer audiences getting hooked to the show.
